Networks of Fraud

E-Commerce platforms have opened up new channels for small businesses to reach large audiences and sell their products and services worldwide and facilitate record levels of consumer choice. However, the sheer number of vendors operating across multiple platforms and geo-locations has led to fraud and intellectual property infringement. The exploitation of e-commerce platforms, by way of hosting stores that sell fraudulent goods, is frequently carried out by actors controlling a network of accounts.

In this report, we analyze a network of fraud to and identify how:

  • Seemingly independent online stores using multiple internet domains
  • Coordinate across multiple platforms
  • Perpetrate fraud against a masses of consumers
